ATLs in chemistry

On the 8th of March the students of our pre-DP2 class and their chemistry teacher Anna Mirowska invited the school community to an open lesson, during which we could see how they apply their research, communication, thinking and finally self-management skills in a chemistry lesson. The lesson was based on inquiry. Students, divided into groups, were supposed to prepare a research note on chemical processes, such as polymerisation, cracking/reforming and distillation of petroleum. They focused on four aspects: What is it? What is it for? How does it work? And finally: In practice. Together, in a shared document, they created a note. It was very informative, practical and full of real life references, such as ecological aspect for the modern world. The lesson was full of fun, cooperation, but also very educational.
