NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE DAY IN Kruczek

This year we have combined the celebrations of the National Independence Day with the Silesian Day. In this way we wanted to celebrate the 101st anniversary of Poland’s regaining independence and the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First Silesian Uprising.

The celebrations began with the School Tournament of Silesian Debates, whose thesis was: It’s easy to love Upper Silesia. Eight teams from first class took part in the tournament. Teams representing I ce-n, I d1-n, I e and I e-n were qualified to the semi-final. The semi-final and the final took place on 14 November. The final thesis was: The Silesian Uprisings brought more benefits to the Second Republic than to Upper Silesia. The winner of the first prize was a team from class Ie: Zuzanna Jarlaczyńska, Kinga Krokosz, Jakub Mazurowski and Natalia Stasica. Second place was taken by the team from the I e-n class: Przemysław Jasiński, Szymon Pawlus, Marta Staniczek and Anna Waszyńska. The book awards for the finalists were funded by the Parents’ Council.

The initiator of the tournament was Mrs. Lucyna Staniczek. The celebrations were accompanied by songs from the Silesian Uprising period performed by students of our school and a presentation of Upper Silesia – land and people presented in the Silesian dialect by Natalia Nowak.
